Sound familiar?

Common is not the same as normal.

The ache that starts at the front of the pelvis. The stairs you now take one at a time. Rolling over in bed becoming a whole event. The advice that it is normal and it will pass once the baby arrives.

We do not believe that pregnancy is synonymous with pain. These changes are common, and common is not the same as normal.

01

Pain at the front of the pelvis, in the groin, or deep in one buttock

02

Lower back or hip pain that worsens as the day goes on

03

Pain rolling over in bed, on stairs, or getting out of the car

04

Leaking, urgency or heaviness that has started during this pregnancy

05

No clear answer on what exercise is still safe for you

Our approach

Treated now, not managed until the birth.

Pelvic girdle pain and pubic symphysis pain respond to treatment during pregnancy. Hands-on care, load and movement strategies, support where it helps, and strength work that fits the trimester you are actually in. Studies show prenatal physiotherapy helps reduce pregnancy-related discomforts and promotes a smoother labour, and it quickens recovery afterwards.

  • Hands-on treatment for pelvic, back, hip, groin, wrist, neck and coccyx pain
  • A pregnancy pelvic floor assessment, only ever with your consent
  • Straight answers on which exercise is right for you now, rather than stopping everything
  • Birth preparation, so you go in knowing what your body is being asked to do

What we treat

Six things you have probably been told to put up with.

01 Pelvic girdle pain

Pelvic girdle pain and SPD

Pain at the front of the pelvis, across the back of it, or deep in one buttock. Worse on stairs, getting out of the car, standing on one leg, or rolling over in bed. It is one of the most common complaints of pregnancy and one of the most treatable.

  • We work out what is actually driving it rather than treating the label
  • Hands-on treatment, plus load and movement strategies for the things that hurt
  • Practical adjustments to sleeping, walking, stairs and getting in and out of a car

02 Back and hip pain

Lower back, hip and sciatic pain

A growing bump changes how you stand, how you load and where the work goes. Lower back pain, sciatica, hip and groin pain are all common in pregnancy, and none of them are something you simply have to sit out until the birth.

  • Hands-on treatment alongside strength work suited to your trimester
  • Sciatica and hip pain assessed properly rather than assumed to be the bump
  • Wrist, neck and coccyx pain treated too, which nobody warns you about

03 Pelvic floor in pregnancy

Your pregnancy pelvic floor assessment

Leaking, urgency or a feeling of heaviness that has started during this pregnancy. These are common and they are treatable now, not only afterwards. A pregnancy pelvic floor assessment also tells you what you are working with before the birth.

  • Pelvic floor function assessed safely and expertly, with your consent
  • Training that goes beyond squeezes: breathing, pressure management and how you lift
  • Heaviness assessed properly, because a tight pelvic floor can feel much like a prolapse

04 Birth preparation

Preparing your body for birth

Birth prep is about preparing your body and setting yourself up for a smoother experience and recovery. Understanding what the pelvic floor is being asked to do, what positions help, and what recovery will actually look like once you are home.

  • Preparation for labour and for the recovery that follows it
  • Relevant whether you are planning a vaginal birth or a caesarean
  • A plan for the first weeks afterwards, before you are too tired to make one

05 Exercise in pregnancy

What is still safe to do

The question almost everyone asks, and the one that gets the vaguest answers. What is right for you depends on what you did before, what your pelvic floor and abdominal wall are doing now, and which trimester you are in.

  • One to one clinical exercise and Pilates, built around your pregnancy
  • Small group classes of one to four, after a pre-exercise class assessment
  • Clear guidance on what to keep, what to modify and what to park for now

06 After the birth

The other side of it

Postnatal physiotherapy quickens recovery and is a chance to put yourself first at a time when self-care can take a back seat. Many women book their postnatal assessment while still pregnant, which is a good idea for reasons that become obvious later.

  • Your six week postnatal assessment, and later is just as worthwhile
  • Caesarean and perineal scar recovery, and abdominal separation
  • Bring the baby. There is a change table and toys onsite

None of them are on that list here. Each one is assessed the same careful way.

How it goes

Your pregnancy care, in six stages.

Explore

We start by understanding you: your concerns, your symptoms and the contributing factors. Your pelvic floor function is assessed safely and expertly, and you can share anything you have been carrying quietly.

Educate

We set goals together and create a tailored treatment plan, with clear guidance on next steps and what to expect. You leave understanding your body better than when you arrived.

Equip

Hands-on care in the clinic and exercises tailored to your goals, your environment and your schedule. At-home care matters more as pregnancy goes on, so we make it something you can actually do.

Engage

We move from hands-on care toward movement-based strategies for resilience, including small group classes of one to four, and gradually return to the activities you had started avoiding.

Establish

We refine movement quality and solidify good habits, adding challenge to your movement patterns as your confidence and strength build through the trimesters.

Embrace

Whether you are nearing your due date or already embracing motherhood, you continue to prioritise your health. We stay available, so you are never starting from scratch.

Getting started

Your first appointment

Sixty minutes, one physiotherapist, and no rush. We take your history, assess what is going on, explain it in plain language, and start treatment. You go home with something to do and a clear idea of what comes next. Fees are listed against each appointment type in the booking diary above.

Before you book

The questions we hear most.

Which pains in pregnancy are worth seeing someone about?

Pelvic girdle and pubic symphysis pain, lower back pain and sciatica, hip and groin pain, and wrist, neck or coccyx pain are all treatable in pregnancy. We do not believe that pregnancy is synonymous with pain, so if something is limiting you, it is worth assessing.

Is prenatal physiotherapy only for mums planning a vaginal delivery?

No. Preparing your body, treating pain and understanding your pelvic floor are all just as relevant if you are planning or expecting a caesarean, and so is the recovery work afterwards.

What actually happens at a pregnancy pelvic floor assessment?

We take a full history first, then assess your pelvic floor function safely and expertly. In some cases we may recommend an internal vaginal examination. Nothing proceeds without your consent, and it stops the moment you want it to.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. You can book straight into the diary. If you do have a referral letter or any investigations, please bring them along, or send them ahead by email or WhatsApp.

How much does it cost?

Every appointment type carries its fee in the booking diary on this page, which is where we keep pricing current.

Can I claim this on insurance?

If your insurance policy includes physiotherapy coverage, your sessions may be claimable. Check with your provider first to confirm coverage and whether you need a doctor's referral, and tell us at payment if you need a diagnosis on your receipt, a hard copy or an insurance memo.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing and shoes you could exercise in, and that keep your toes safe.

Where are you and how do I get there?

We are at 410 and 410A Joo Chiat Road in Katong, a 650m walk from Marine Parade MRT. If you are coming via Dakota MRT, bus 16 gets you close. Street parking is available, with paid options at Katong Point Shopping Centre and Joo Chiat Road Car Park.
